The EU AI Act: Fundamental Human Rights

Venue

CMS CAMERON MCKENNA Cannon Place, 78 Cannon Street, London EC4N 6A

TIME & DATE

December 10 2024 @ 13:00

New laws relating to AI are being created around the world, and a new EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) closely regulates systems that present significant or unacceptable risks to fundamental human rights. This risk and measurement-based approach to human rights is novel and raises questions about how rights and impacts can be monitored and quantified, the potential interaction with new ESG diligence and reporting frameworks and existing legislative rights of redress, and how private and public sector actors should arrive at a fair assessment of human rights risks and impacts in the context of powerful and fast-moving AI technology.

Please join us for an engaging and festive lunchtime roundtable discussion of human rights in the context of AI regulation, with mince pies, chaired by Abigail Holt, Barrister (International human rights law) at Garden Court Chambers and Charles Kerrigan, Partner (AI and FinTech) at CMS, and involving law tech specialists from D2 Legal technology: Lisa McClory.

This event is free to attend in person at 13.00 at CMS, Cannon Place, 78 Cannon Street, London EC4N 6A
