Dear Members,

Regular social and educational events are a key feature of any thriving Circuit and the European Circuit is no different. With this in mind, we have planned for 2010:

• Our first-ever Annual Lecture, by the Master of the Rolls, on 24 June
• Our Annual Conference in Paris (October, dates to be confirmed)

As many of you know from experience, not only do these events enable us to meet with fellow advocates from across many different jurisdictions to discuss law and practice in the European and international context, but also to socialise informally with one another to share ideas, experiences and opportunities.

I look forward to meeting you over the coming months and extend that welcome to any practitioners who are not already members but have an interest in European practice: every Circuit is dependent on the activity and involvement of its members, and I hope that as many of you as possible will support the planned events. BACFI EU seminar and 'meet the Circuit'

A BACFI seminar on "Recent Developments in European Law including the Akzo Nobel decision" with Fergus Randolph QC, Leader of the European Circuit of the Bar & James Flynn QC, Brick Court Chambers and Evanna Fruithof, Consultant Director, Bar Council Brussels Office, takes place on 21 September from 5.45pm at Brick Court Chambers (followed by drinks). The seminar will also introduce and explain the development and work of the European Circuit and the Brussels Office.
